We have Youth Programs for every age group here at Watonga Christian Church. We enjoy being around youth and we also enjoy teaching these students about biblical principles. We want Youth to leave Church every Sunday with a better understanding of who God is, and what God's plan is for their lives. We have activities designed for all ages from trips to the Zoo to trips to playing Laser Tag. Sometimes we may even go to the mall just to be together. Not to mention Church camp and other retreats designed for certain ages.
So, because you are lukewarm- neither hot nor cold- I am about to spit you out of my mouth. Rev 3:16
One thing I remember vividly while I was growing up was the idea my mother had about moving out of town and to the hill country of southern Texas. This wasn’t just an idea she came up with because she didn’t like living in town, it was more of an idea for the cause of Christ. Her plan was to purchase 80 acres and begin to build what I would call a place of preparation and restoration. My mom/s whole purpose for building this place wasn’t for the family to have land and raise animals, (which she wanted to do also) but rather to design a place where missionaries could stay while traveling to and from different missions spots, mostly Mexico. It was all drawn out, missionaries would come and stay with us for a night, or maybe a few nights. We would have, through time, purchased used mobile homes and my dad would have renovated them so the missionaries would have a place to stay on their own. Aside from lodging we would offer meals and laundry service, all for what I believed to be at no cost to the traveler. The purpose of this place was to give the missionary(s) a place to either be restored by spending quality time with God after a trip or to prepare for their trip by meditation and prayer. I don’t think that this place will ever come about, although I still believe my mom would try if the funds were available. Now that I’m grown up, sorta,  the thing that strikes me the most is what my mom wanted to call this place. The name of our land would have been called “HIRI”. What does it mean? Simple, it means He Is Risen Indeed. This property would be a place for missionaries to come back to the knowledge that their work is truly important for the very reason that HIRI. This month being the Easter month I thought I would say a few things about it. We usually celebrate Easter because Christ rose from the grave, and a lot of people stop with that. But, we need to go beyond that and realize Christ is truly risen, He is not in a grave anywhere, He is sitting at the right hand of the Father waiting to come back for us. Many people will wait until life is too hard to handle before they try to get close to Jesus, but Christ rose so that we could be restored to perfection. There is already a place where people can find safety and renewal it’s in the arm of God. The only reason we can get to the arms of God, is because HIRI! Happy Easter
